Police ID District Man, Maryland Woman Killed In Apparent Murder-Suicide

Details have been released by the Prince George's County Police Department after a District man killed a woman in Maryland he had a previous relationship with before apparently turning the gun on himself.

Investigators have identified Fairmount Heights resident Tequia Nails, 32, as the victim who was gunned down by 26-year-old Quindell Mercer overnight before being found with what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

According to a department spokesperson, at around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, officers were called to investigate a shooting in the 500 block of 62nd Avenue in Fairmount Heights, where thy found Nails suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The following morning, at around 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Mercer's body was found in DC after sustaining a gunshot wound.

He was also pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

Investigators say that Mercer shot Nails before fleeing the area, and the two previously had been in a relationship. No other details were provided by the police.
